Abstract: This is one of the two reports requested by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India to streamline the process of food imports and reduce the compliance burden on the food industry based on learning from best practices in the United Kingdom (UK). This report has been supported by the Government of United Kingdom's Prosperity Fund India Programme. Research for these reports was conducted by the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), an autonomous policy research institute ranked by University of Pennsylvania for the third year running as India's foremost in 'International Economics' as well as 'International Development Policy'.
