Abstract: Using information on individual products obtained from the Food Consumption Panel, quality-adjusted price indices have been constructed, by type of establishment, for a representative set of fresh foods purchased by Spanish households. As the Food Consumption Panel does not provide information on product quality, the information available on household characteristics has been used to obtain such indices. With these indices it has been possible to analyse the differences in changes in fresh food prices, according to the type of establishment at which the products are acquired.
