Abstract:
The paper provides a literature review on financial education; it summarizes the results of the surveys held in Italy, as well as the challenges of measuring financial literacy, and offers an overview of the international policy debate. The paper also describes the initiatives undertaken by the Bank of Italy, with special focus on methodology and on the programs launched by the Institute, both for the youth and for adults, in the last 15 years; lastly, it suggests some directions for future progress.
