Abstract: The transition towards a carbon-neutral economy is poised to significantly impact on global trade flows. This paper presents new evidence on the evolution of these flows at both the global and European levels, with a particular emphasis on Italy. We combine a macro analysis of aggregate trends in the trade of low-carbon technology (LCT) products with a micro analysis of Italian firm-level data to examine the characteristics of Italian firms that actively export LCT products. The findings offer insights into how the shift to a carbon-neutral economy affects trade dynamics at a global level and into the role of Italian firms in this evolving landscape.
