Abstract: A ground-breaking survey confirms that the people of Reunion Island are more attached to using cash than their counterparts in mainland France. But it also reveals that for everyday point-of-sale transactions, the payment habits of Reunion Islanders and those living in mainland France are now very similar, as the use of electronic payments has increased on the island.

Une enquête inédite confirme que les Réunionnais sont plus attachés aux espèces que les Hexagonaux. Mais elle révèle aussi que pour les transactions du quotidien réalisées dans les magasins, les habitudes de paiement des Réunionnais et des Hexagonaux sont désormais très proches, l’utilisation des moyens de paiement dématérialisés ayant progressé dans l’île.
