Abstract: In France, as in most advanced economies, inflation rose sharply between 2021 and 2023, reaching levels not witnessed for 40 years. Using the Bernanke and Blanchard model (2023), we conclude that, as in the United States, energy shocks, followed by food price shocks, fuelled post-pandemic inflation in France, without however triggering a wage-price spiral, thanks in particular to effective anchoring of inflation expectations.

En France et dans la plupart des pays avancés, l'inflation a fortement augmenté entre 2021 et 2023, atteignant des niveaux inobservés depuis 40 ans. À partir du modèle de Bernanke et Blanchard (2023), nous concluons que, comme aux États-Unis, les chocs de prix de l’énergie puis de l’alimentation ont été les moteurs de l'inflation post-pandémie en France, sans pour autant enclencher de spirale prix-salaires grâce notamment au maintien d’un bon ancrage des anticipations d’inflation.
