Abstract: Since 2008, the over-50s are the only age group in the euro area to have seen a steady rise in employment, as a result of population ageing and the increase in the effective pension age. In contrast, the number of those under 50 in work has fallen markedly over the same period, despite a recent stabilisation in the trend. The over-60s are the only group not to have seen an improvement in gross hourly wages between 2010 and 2014.

Depuis 2008, seul le nombre d’emplois occupés par des plus de 50 ans a continûment progressé en zone euro, conséquence du vieillissement de la population et de l’augmentation de l’âge effectif de départ à la retraite. A l’inverse, l’emploi des moins de 50 ans affiche une nette baisse sur la même période, en dépit de sa stabilisation récente. Toutefois, la catégorie des plus de 60 ans est la seule à n’avoir pas vu son salaire horaire progresser entre 2010 et 2014.
