No 11, Working Papers from Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis

Abstract: The paper was written at the request of the Vice President and Minister of Finance and Development Planning. The paper notes that Africa's importance in the world economy has declined over the years and argues that this, and the extreme poverty in most of Africa, calls for analysis of ways to reverse the trend. Prospects for regional co-operation and integration are discussed as possible ways to accelerate economic growth in Southern Africa.
