Abstract: The aim of this paper is to describe the sources of growth for the regions of Chile during the period 1987-2009. Using the primal method proposed by Solow, the Total Factor Productivity (PTF) is computed with different capital and labor measures. When the information of a factor is not available at the regional level, the strategy to find out a proxy is presented. The results are presented exploring different combinations of the measures. During the period 1991-1997 the PTF for all the regions was greater to the one measured during the period 1998-2000. During this last period, only the mining regions reported positive PTF.
