Long-Term Implications of the 2020 Future Years Defense Program
Congressional Budget Office
No 55500, Reports from Congressional Budget Office
Abstract:
As part of the President’s budget request, the Department of Defense (DoD) develops a plan called the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP) that reflects DoD’s expectations about its programs and costs over the next five years. According to CBO’s projections, if the plans described in the 2020 FYDP were implemented, DoD’s costs would increase from the $718 billion requested for 2020 to $776 billion (in 2020 dollars) by 2034.
