The Opioid Crisis: Federal Policy Approaches to Reduce Supply, Demand, and Harm
Congressional Budget Office
No 60889, Reports from Congressional Budget Office
Abstract:
CBO describes and assesses the effects of policy approaches that lawmakers could employ to address the ongoing opioid crisis. The agency chose approaches that have considerable Congressional interest, as reflected in legislative actions and proposals, and that are supported by substantial evidence about whether and how they would affect outcomes of interest, such as utilization of and retention in treatment, the number of overdoses, and rates of opioid-related mortality.
