Abstract: This text aims to carry out an exploratory analysis of industrial policies in the US, Japan and the UK in the midst of the Covid-19 economic and health crisis. The information was collected and systematized according to the analytical framework used by Labrunie, Penna and Kupfer (2020) focused on three categories - on (i) narratives (ii) policy structure and (iii) policy instruments. The guiding documents for industrial policies before the Covid-19 pandemic were also presented. The information was gathered through research on government websites, international organizations, scientific articles and journalistic texts. It was possible to infer that industrial policies are indeed understood and used as mechanisms for economic strengthening and recovery. In addition to mitigating several of the pandemic's short-term impacts, the documents shed light on long-term efforts to develop new technological areas, with a clear concern for ensuring national self-sufficiency in science, technology and innovation efforts in areas considered strategic.
