Abstract: This paper analyzes the structure and spatial dynamics of regional innovation systems (RIS) in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, through the identification of municipal patterns for the years 2010 and 2022. Using multivariate analysis techniques, municipalities were grouped according to scientific, technological, and urban characteristics, allowing the identification of different stages of innovative maturity. The results reveal the persistence of a concentrated pattern, with only a few municipalities exhibiting greater innovative capacity, particularly in the southern portion of the state, while most municipalities remain at incipient levels. Although all RIS groups showed improvements in their indicators over the period analyzed, no significant reconfiguration in the spatial distribution of innovation across the state was observed.
