Abstract:
The scheduled return of Hong Kong to Chinese rule in 1997 has generated considerable debate regarding its future, and its implications for the P.R.C.'s relationship with other territories claimed as part of China. At a symposium held on 19 January 1996 at the Suntory Centre two speakers addressed some of these issues. Dr John Wong gave a paper on 'The Future of Hong Kong' and Dr Michael Yahuda's paper was on 'Hong Kong: The Challenge to China'.
