Economic Statistics Series from Central Bank of Chile
Abstract:
The release of the 2013 Benchmark Compilation set the new statistical framework for the estimation of Chilean National Accounts. In order to provide longer economic series, consistent with the new framework, the Central Bank of Chile releases the results of a linking exercise of national accounts series, covering the years 1986-2013. This exercise replicates the use of sources of information and estimation methods adopted in the new Benchmark Compilation, and extends them to previous years. GDP was obtained through the production and expenditure approaches, both in current prices and volume terms. Estimation was carried in yearly and quarterly frequencies, the latter being the result of a detailed analysis of seasonal patterns of high frequency series, and the use of benchmarking techniques. The new series present a marginal correction in the evolution of the main macroeconomic aggregates, compared to the previous release figures.
