Abstract: This article describes the methodology used for calculating the value added in the electricity, gas, and water sector - at monthly and annual frequency - with an emphasis on the electric sub-sector. We show that the main difference between both measurements (monthly and annual), is the inclusion of effective information on intermediate consumption in the annual account. Moreover, coefficients are calculated for the added value in the electric sub-sector, for the use of different technologies. This allows us to analyze the effect of the substitution of electric power stations because of changes in input availability. We conclude that the availability of inputs is relevant for the sector’s added value, but other factors should be considered in the short-run analysis.
