Abstract: Quand les chiffres ne racontent pas toute l'histoire Recent analyses by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) suggest that Quebec may be the province that spends the least on public health. But is that really the case? In a CIRANO report (Jacques et al., 2025), the authors examine this question and offer a new perspective on Quebec’s public health efforts. By scrutinizing public expenditures in four provinces based on a common definition of public health, they show that CIHI tends to overestimate public health spending in all provinces except Quebec. Mais est-ce vraiment le cas ? Dans un rapport CIRANO (Jacques et al., 2025), les auteurs se penchent sur cette question et offrent une nouvelle perspective sur les efforts du Québec en matière de santé publique. En scrutant les dépenses publiques de quatre provinces à partir d’une définition commune de la santé publique, ils montrent que l’ICIS tend à surestimer la dépense de santé publique dans toutes les provinces sauf au Québec.
