Attitude du personnel clinique face à l’utilisation d’outils technologiques dans les établissements de santé au Québec

Abstract: The transformation of public organisations towards a digital environment raises many questions about how to achieve this. In this study, the authors examine the individual, organisational and structural determinants of the attitudes of health professionals towards the digital transformation and determine whether these factors vary according to the categories of health professionals, the type of practice setting or according to geographical location. An online questionnaire was conducted in the spring of 2023 among general practitioners, medical specialists, nurses and licensed practical nurses in Quebec, and 2,576 valid responses were used for the analyses. The analyses suggest that more than half (57%) of clinical staff reported being fully open to using technological tools at work. There were no statistically significant differences between categories of health professionals on their openness to using technological tools. In general, men, professionals who use technological tools more frequently, those who consider themselves competent and capable of using technology at work, and those who recognise the benefits of using technological tools tend to be more open to using technological tools in their practice. Feeling involved in the organisation's technological choices and working alongside colleagues who are receptive to the use of technological tools are also factors positively associated with the use of technological tools at work. Supporting professionals through training or support initiatives and involving them in technological choices are possible solutions to explore in order to encourage greater openness. La transformation des organisations publiques vers un environnement numérique soulève de nombreuses interrogations quant à la manière d’y parvenir. Dans cette étude, les auteurs s’intéressent aux déterminants individuels, organisationnels et structurels de l’attitude du personnel soignant face à la transformation numérique et examinent si ces déterminants varient selon les types de professionnels, selon les milieux de pratique ou selon le lieu géographique. Un questionnaire en ligne auprès de médecins omnipraticiens, de médecins spécialistes, d’infirmières et d’infirmières auxiliaires du Québec a été réalisé au printemps 2023 et 2576 réponses valides ont servi aux analyses. Les analyses suggèrent que plus de la moitié (57 %) des professionnels se disent totalement ouverts à l’usage d’outils technologiques dans le cadre de leur travail et qu’il n’y a aucune différence statistiquement significative entre les catégories de professionnels de la santé quant à leur ouverture à intégrer des outils technologiques. De façon générale, les hommes, les professionnels qui ont une utilisation plus fréquente des outils technologiques, ceux qui se considèrent comme compétents et capables d’utiliser les technologies au travail et ceux qui reconnaissent les bienfaits de l’usage d’outils technologiques au travail auront tendance à être plus ouverts à l’usage d’outils technologiques dans leur pratique. Aussi, se sentir partie prenante des choix technologiques de l’organisation et côtoyer des collègues réceptifs à l’usage d’outils technologiques sont des facteurs associés positivement à l’usage d’outils technologiques au travail. Appuyer les professionnels par des formations ou des actions de soutien et les faire participer dans les choix technologiques sont des pistes de solutions à explorer afin de favoriser une plus grande ouverture.
