Les Nanotechnologies: leurs bénéfices et leurs risques potentiels

Abstract: This report is an introduction to the nanotechnology uprising fields. In the first section, different definitions of the nanotechnology term are given. Then, the various applications known to date and expected in the near future will be gathered according to the three most important fields of the nanotechnologies. The economic aspect will be treated in the third part before tackling the question of health and environment risks. Finally, the challenges to design an Integrated Product Policy for nanoproducts and process, as well as the importance and difficulties of elaborating a complete Life Cycle Assessment for implementing such a policy will be pointed out in the conclusion Ce rapport est une introduction au domaine fascinant des nanotechnologies. Le but est de définir ce qu'est la nanotechnologie, évaluer sa portée en termes d'applications, en connaître les principaux acteurs, et évaluer les dangers potentiels qui pourraient émaner de ce domaine en effervescence. En introduction, un bref historique ainsi que les différentes définitions accordées au terme nanotechnologie seront exposés. Ensuite, les différentes applications connues à ce jour et envisagées seront regroupées selon les trois domaines les plus importants des nanotechnologies. L'aspect économique sera abordé dans la troisième partie avant d'aborder la question des risques pour la santé et l'environnement. Finalement, les difficultés que posent l'application de la politique intégrée des produits en rapport avec les nanotechnologies et l'importance de l'Analyse de Cycle de Vie dans l'intégration de cette politique seront mentionnées dans la conclusion
