Abstract: This paper studies the fiscal revenues of Cartagena de Indias, the main port of the Viceroyalty of New Granada during the colonial period and one of the principal military bastions of Spain in the Caribbean in the eighteenth century.1 The period analyzed extends from 1751 to 1810.
