Determinantes del estado de salud de la población colombiana

Abstract: RESUMEN En este artículo, mediante un análisis marginal, se establecen y evalúan los factores determinantes del estado de salud de los colombianos, a partir de los datos obtenidos en la Encuesta Nacional de Calidad de Vida, realizada por el DANE en el año 2003.Se utilizó un modelo de respuesta múltiple ordenado. Los resultados son coherentes con la teoría de la demanda por salud y con los principales estudios empíricos nacionales e internacionales. Se encontró que el estado de salud está determinado por la edad, el ingreso, el nivel educativo, la actividad laboral, la ubicación geográfica, el género, los hábitos de las personas, y la seguridad social en salud. ABSTRACT Using a marginal analysis, this article identifies and evaluates the determining factors in the state of ealth of Colombians, using data obtained from the National Survey on the Quality of Life, carried out by DANE in 2003, and using an ordered multiple reply model. The results are coherent with the theory of the demand for health, and with the main empirical domestic and international studies. It was found that the state of health is determined by age, income, the level of education, occupation, geographical location, gender, personal habits and social security in health.
