Abstract:
The paper develops a study of the determinants of the gender gap based on data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), specifically with the Great Integrated Household Survey to take the seasonally adjusted variables and develop the research models. In the first instance, the unemployment gap by gender is analyzed through a structural break and cointegration analysis in time series from 2001 to 2020 and binary choice models to find the determinants of unemployment, then the wage gap is analyzed by structuring a Mincerian model, using the oaxaca blinder decomposition that allows to see the magnitude and variation of the gap and, finally, an analysis is made with a multiple correspondence model, which allows to show if the determinants used explain the greatest amount of variance of the gender gap. By way of conclusion, we find an exponential growth of the unemployment gap since the end of 2017, the wage gap exists with favorability towards men, the variables used in the cross-sectional models are determinants of the wage gap, which from a geographical analysis have a significant variance.arxist theory of alienation, economic thought.
