Abstract:
This text analyzes the efficiency of public spending in Colombia during the 21st century, from the perspective of the National Development Plans (PND) proposed by each government. To this end, a review was made of the diagnoses and policy objectives in relation to the efficiency of spending in each PND and, subsequently, a comparative analysis was made between them to determine the quality of spending and evaluate its variation in recent years. The results reveal although public spending in the country has been increasing, it has not been efficient. Moreover, when compared to other countries, the percentage of public spending in Colombia is still relatively low.
