Abstract:
This paper seeks to analyze the effects of globalization on human development (measured through the HDI) and education (measured through the result of PISA test results, patent application number and H index) in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, to examine whether it meets the characteristics of a synergistic process (heterogeneity, complementarity, selforganization and synchronization). It is concluded that the historical evolution of all the analyzed indicators is positive as the globalization process advances; therefore, this can be considered as a synergic process where cooperation, specialization and synchronization among countries lead to improvements in the fields of interest. However, the existing gaps between the different case studies remain to be explained, as well as the reason why countries with a high degree of globalization, such as Colombia, have indicators of human development and education with lower results in relative terms.
