Abstract:
Swarm intelligence is an issue that has aroused great interest among scientists, mainly from the year 1995 with the work of Kennedy and Eberhart. The present paper aims to expose some of the relationships that may occur between the behavior and performance analysis of swarms and its application in understanding organizations. Thus, aspects described as self-organization and decentralization, lack of planning, lack of control and direction as well as abandonment of leadership, and how these elements can lead to advances in the management of economic units. The presence of these factors in the interactions that occurs between members of a swarm, allows the presence of emerging forces that potentiate the roles of individuals in the community and the pursuit of common goals, as well as performing complex activities that individuals alone could not do, even with the absence of any control or command. The paper concludes with the exposition of the relationship between swarm intelligence and understanding of organizations and challenges self-control and selforganization.
