El papel estratégico de los BRICS en la era del capitalismo cognitivo y financiero

Abstract: This paper analyzes the emergence and role that the set of countries grouped in the acronym BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) can play in the global economy within the framework of the international crisis being experienced by capitalism. It is also characterized the actual phase of the capitalist system as one of financialization and a leading role for the knowledge gained in the process of accumulation. From these elements, it is argued that the BRICS, even though they coincide in presenting high rates of economic growth in recent years, they also have characteristics that make them different. Thus, their role in the global economy is very different in nature and so will the size of its international influence. Finally, some approximations are made about the consequences that these countries can represent on the economy of Latin American countries.
