Hacia la institucionalización de la medición del ciclo económico colombiano: una propuesta

Abstract: This article proposes to institutionalize the measurement of the Colombian business cycle by creating a non partisan committee, whose members would mainly come from public and private universities. In order to ensure a significant degree of regional diversity, the committee would have a minimum of members whose place of residence or work site is different from Bogotá. Traditionally, the measurement of the business cycle has focused on the performance of GDP. The proposal presented here is to draw to Colombia two types of measures, one based on the level of output and income, and one based on the level of employment.
