Abstract: The current paper is on the strategic analysis of the productive capacityof transformation and scientific development of the ColombianCaribbean from a transition scene capable of reach focusing onknowledge society. The central subject in this work is that one ofthe best ways of achieve advantages on scientific and technologicaldevelopment necessarily is not stopping producing what the regiontraditionally has come doing, but stimulating the capacity to diversifyand to add value to him to the existing thing, as well as to producenew goods or services.Este artículo es un análisis estratégico del potencial de transformaciónproductiva y desarrollo científico y tecnológico del Caribe colombianoa partir un escenario de transición posible de lograr enfocado desde laperspectiva de la sociedad del conocimiento. El mensaje central de estetrabajo es que una de las mejores formas de lograr avances en materiade desarrollo científico y tecnológico no es dejar de producir aquelloque la región tradicionalmente ha venido haciendo, sino estimular lacapacidad de diversificar y agregarle valor a lo que ya existe, así comotambién producir bienes o servicios nuevos.
