Abstract: El objetivo del presente artículo es estimar la relación entre el acceso a los servicios de salud medido a partir de la utilización de los mismos, y las características socioeconómicas de los cartageneros. Para ello, se realizó un estudio transversal explicativo sobre una muestra de 276 personas encuestadas cual fue estratificada según tipo de afiliación teniendo en cuenta que la distribución de los habitantes por su tipo de afiliación no es homogénea según la dirección de aseguramiento de la Secretaría Distrital de Salud. Los datos fueron tabulados y procesados utilizando el paquete estadístico SPSS 12.0 y Excel2000®. Las pruebas de asociación y los modelos de regresión logística binaria mostraron que el aseguramiento y el estado civil determinan el acceso a los servicios de salud del sistema. La escolaridad, la percepción de la salud y la posición ocupacional resultaron ser no significativas. El aseguramiento otorga beneficios percibidos por los usuarios de manera que se recomiendan tomar medidas encaminadas a procurar aumentar la cobertura. ****** The aim of this article is to estimate the relationship between access to health services, measured by the use of them, and the socioeconomics characteristics of the cartageneros. For that, it was performed a explicative - transversal study about a sample of 276 people, which was divided by the type of affiliation, considering that the distribution of the inhabitants by type of affiliation is not homogeneous according to the insurance direction of the Secretaría Distrital de Salud. The data was tabulated and processed using the software SPSS 12.0 y Excel2000®. The tests of association and the logistic models showed that the insurance and the marital status determine the access to health services of the system. The education, the health perception and the occupational position turned out to be not significance. The insurance gives benefits perceived by the users, so that it is recommended to take measures that seek to increase the cover.
