Capitalism
Antonio Argandona
No D/1147, IESE Research Papers from IESE Business School
Abstract:
This work is an entry for the second edition of Sage's Encyclopedia of Business Ethics and Society. It presents the capitalist system and its varieties briefly, then discusses their social and ethical dimensions and the main features of the debate about these dimensions: foundations, the role of the State, ethical limits and appraisals of the results. The entry offers an outline that may help to identify, first, what is essential in the capitalist system and, second, those aspects of the capitalist system that are criticized most.
