Abstract: Central American countries and the Dominican Republic negotiated and ratified (with the exception of Costa Rica) a free trade agreement with the United States (i.e. CAFTA). The agreement which entered into force in 2006 is very comprehensive. It includes chapters on trade in goods and services, investment, labor and environment.
