Climate change's heat tax on the UK's labour force and economy

Abstract: During and immediately after the intense heatwave that affected the UK in June 2026 we carried out a survey of workers to find out how the heat affected their work, then calculated the cost to the economy. We estimate this single heatwave could have cost the UK more than £1 billion in lost output.
