Abstract:
This document presents a review and critical analysis of the evaluation of public policies and programs in Mexico in the light of recent progress in the practice and institutionalization of program and policy evaluation. The first section considers the importance of evaluation, transparency and accountability for the quality of public spending. The second section presents reviews the historic evolution and present state of program and policy evaluation in Mexico. Section 3 considers the principal challenges in the utilization of evaluation results in the design of public policy and offers specific recommendations.
