Abstract: (WP07/02 Clave pdf) One important reason behind total quality management implementation failure has been attributed to the poor understanding of the interdependence between quality management practices and competitive capabilities. Despite, ample literature on total quality management (TQM) techniques, no comprehensive and systematic examination of TQM relating to manufacturing competitive capabilities has been conducted. The purpose of this study is to empirically assess the relationship between quality management practices and competitive capabilities. Data collected from 300 manufacturing companies were used to test the hypothesized relationships using structural equation modeling.
