Abstract:
This policy brief examines the brief histroical food crisis, the impact of rice on economy, periodic issues surrounding East Asia, and the scope of regional cooperation in regards to the food crisis. To avoid rice industry from collapsing, avoid sudden restrictions on international trade, which may cause serious supply disruption and speculations. The introduction and establishment of food stockpiling is also an essential factor, whilst reinforcing agricultural R&D. It is important to emphasise in the benefit in the region to create stable and efficient market.
