Samia Mohamed Nour

No 237, Working Papers from Economic Research Forum

Abstract: This paper compares the ICT market in both Egypt and the Gulf countries. Both are lagging behind the developed countries, but Egypt has higher supply, while the Gulf countries have higher demand and spending. The two sides correlation between ICT and economic development is verified. ICT diffusion is positively correlated to economic growth and human capital/ education. ICT spending positively affects economic growth and human capital/ education. However, in both Egypt and the Gulf countries, the degree of significance is somewhat doubtful and ambiguous.
