Abstract:
This paper investigates the role of the new digital technologies in the Lebanese economy. After presenting an overview of the economy especially the postwar business cycle and the rise of a low productivity economy, the paper delineates the different aspects of the new technologies in Lebanon including the current state of startups, Fintech, e-government and e-commerce. Moreover, the paper investigates the potential labor market and inequality effects of the introduction of new technologies. The paper concludes with prospects and policy recommendations.
