Abstract: While the impact of environmental regulations on exports is widely discussed in the MENA region, there has been little empirical analysis on how stringent environmental regulations might affect exports of key sectors in the future. The main objective of this work is to fill this gap by examining the impact of an appropriate resource conservation policy on output, export and population well being. We consider a real case involving a substantial water price increase and its impact on the export and production of some key irrigated products. Our results show that the impact of this price increase differs from one product to another.
