Abstract:
The new Labour Government in Britain has made the reduction of child poverty one of its central objectives. An earlier paper described the specific initiatives involved in LabourÃs approach and weighed them up in terms of their potential impact (Piachaud and Sutherland, 2000). This paper - referred to henceforth as P&S - covered the policies that were announced between the 1997 election and January 2000. Here, the findings are updated to take account of the further policy changes announced in the March 2000 Budget
