Abstract:
This paper highlights the major hindrances in providing a robust referral transport service in Delhi, under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram.The study analyses the socio-economic parameters and other factors affecting the success of referral transport facility for institutional deliveries.The survey, conducted across five districts of Delhi, indicates the serious underuse of the referral transport facility and the need to strengthen it to increase the number of institutional deliveries in Delhi. This paper examines the reasons for such underuse and suggests ways to increase the popularity of the referral transport service. [IEG Working Paper No. 367].
