How Can We Draw the Line Between Clinical Care and Medical Research?
PLoS Medicine
Working Papers from eSocialSciences
Abstract:
When research takes place within the context of clinical care, how can we distinguish which activities constitute care, and which research? The editors of PLoS Medicine believe that open access to research findings is the most direct way of fulfilling the obligation towards participants to produce more widely available knowledge. In addition to the reporting of clinical trials, however, there is a great diversity of other types of clinical research that must be reported.
