Remembering Suharto
Jeremy Wagstaff
Working Papers from eSocialSciences
Abstract:
Suharto's image abroad will mostly be as a Cold Warrior and unwanted tyrant, but most Indonesians see him through a more complicated filter. His death may now mark the beginning of a journey to a greater understanding of his legacy. Or Indonesians may prefer to quietly turn the page, leaving him wrapped in the mystery he made his strength.
