Abstract:
Chhattisgarh continues to be the epicenter of the Naxalite conflict as a direct consequence of the counter-insurgency Salwa Judum campaign. There have been credible reports of serious human rights violations by the security forces while combating the Naxalites. Though security forces identify all those killed by them as “Naxalites†, there have been allegations of fake encounter killings. The response of the government of India and the State governments remained the same – full of rhetoric and lack of implementation of the programmes.
