Negotiating Reproductive Health Neds In A Conflict Situation In The Kashmir Valley

Abstract: The years of turmoil in the Kashmir valley have resulted in a breakdown of the state machinery, especially the health infrastructure, with the breakdown of peripheral facilities and the migration of doctors. The doctors who are available now are concentrated in the cities. And people in the villages have thus become dependent on ‘local doctors’ who have mushroomed all over. This study tries to look at the ways in which Kashmiri women coped with the restrictions placed on them by society, the family, and circumstances. How have they survived in spite of negligible medical options?
