Annual Status of Education Report (Rural) 2009 (Provisional)

Pratham Pratham

Working Papers from eSocialSciences

Abstract: The purpose of the ASER 2009’s rapid assessment survey in rural areas is twofold: (i) to get reliable estimates of the status of children’s schooling and basic learning (reading and arithmetic level) at the district level; and (ii) to measure the change in these basic learning and school statistics from last year. Every year a core set of questions regarding schooling status and basic learning levels remains the same. However a set of new questions is added for exploring different dimensions of schooling and learning at the elementary stage. The latter set of questions is different each year.
