Abstract:
The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) conducted a factfinding visit from 17th to 19th December 2007, to Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) and Khammam (Andhra Pradesh), in order to assess the status of children’s health and education in the situation of civil unrest in Dantewada district. The following report details a narrative account of the team’s visit and highlights key issues pertaining to children and families in camps and villages affected by conflict in Dantewada and those displaced across state borders as a result of the same. Specific action items recommended by the NCPCR team in response to these issues have also been noted.
