Public Sector Performance: A Global Perspective

Louise Ross

Working Papers from eSocialSciences

Abstract: The public sectors of different countries are shaped by many factors, but they share common challenges. Those challenges make public sector performance management more complex than it is in the private sector. The generally simpler environment of the private sector and its efficient evolution of best practice allow companies to benefit from tools and insights that are the envy of managers in the public sector. This report will be of interest to readers from all sectors due to the role of the public sector with respect to economic growth and the increasing interdependencies of public and private sectors. It also includes a specific solution to one of the biggest public sector challenges – the alignment of policy to outcomes.
