The importance of the political parties in Myanmar and their role as the creators of the future of the country. The course of the present developments relies on the ability of the political parties. This paper highlights the role of political parties, the conflict history of the country and the current situation. In order to understand party politics it is also important to know Myanmar’s history as it is full of conflicts and has seldom seen sustainable development. The conflicts of Myanmar have been divided into four periods: 1948–1962, 1962–1988, 1988–2011 and 2011 to today. [ISDP Asia Paper].
