Abstract:
The report deals with the estimation of poverty and identification of poor – differences in approach. It also describes the characteristics and trends of urban poverty. The vulnerability of urban poor is categorized under three broad categories such as ‘Residential’, ‘Occupational’ and ‘Social’. The recommendations of the Expert Group to arrive at a detailed methodology for identification of the urban poor households are described. [Planning Commission].
