The Case of Slum Rehabilitation in Delhi
Subhadra Banda
Working Papers from eSocialSciences
Abstract:
Delhi Master Plan 2021 introduced the "In-situ rehabilitation" approach to slum redevelopment, in which slum residents transit to temporary housing while the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) reconstructs the settlement, and then shifts the slum-dwellers back into improved housing. This paper lays out the trajectory of one such slum colony and the associated legal framework. [CPR WP no.3, June 2013]
